Plot is full of adventure,
witty repartee and sizzling passion...
The final book in
Martin's Bride trilogy is just as delightful,
sexy and steamy as the first two. This
marriage-of-convenience plot is full of
adventure, witty repartee and sizzling passion.
Rule Dewar
is living the high life in London with wine, women and song, until
he gets a surprise visitor -- his wife. Three years earlier, Rule
married the American teenage heiress as a favor to her father. He
left her soon after the marriage to take over a London
gun-manufacturing plant and never looked back. Now he is confronted
with a beautiful woman with whom he is more than willing to assume
his role as husband. But Violet Griffin Dewar has come for an
annulment. Rule refuses to give her to another man without a fight.
He convinces her to give him a month to court her, but there are
others who will stop at nothing -- even murder! -- to break up the
happy couple. -

It has intrigue, mystery, murder, love,
romance, and sensuality...
RULE’S
BRIDE by Kat Martin is a Historical Romance set in 1859 Boston
and ends in 1862 England. It is well written. It has intrigue,
mystery, murder, love, romance, and sensuality. The characters
are charming, independent, and strong. The secondary characters
are just as strong. The heroine’s cousin finds love in the
hero’s best friend, therefore there a story in the brew. It is
fast paced and page turner. The characters will draw you into
the story with them. Therefore, the hero and youngest of the
Dewar brothers, he is not a force to be reckoned with as the
other two. He is not sure what love is or how it feels, but
through advice from his older brother he realizes what it is and
he is in love with his wife. This is a captivating story of
young love and what a dying father will do to ensure this lovely
daughter’s future and well being. If you not read the other two
in The Bride Trilogy (#1 Royal’s Bride and #2 Reese’s Bride) I
would recommend them. -

I can’t recommend Rule’s Bride highly
enough...
Rule Dewar married Violet Griffin three years ago as a favor
to her dying father. He promptly returned home to England
and his rakish ways, leaving his young bride in Boston. So
he couldn’t be more stunned when a very different, grown up
Violet shows up in his home. He’s ready to begin their
marriage but Violet has very different ideas. She’s there to
obtain an annulment so that she can marry another man. Rule
is determined to keep his wife, but a hidden enemy is just
as determined to make sure that never happens.
I have so loved Kat Martin’s
Bride Trilogy, but I am unashamed to say that Rule’s book is
my absolute favorite!! Passion, danger and intrigue pull you
into Rule’s Bride from the very start and don’t let you go.
I was dying to see how it ended but was unwilling to turn
the last page! I can’t even count how many of Ms. Martin’s
books I’ve read, but I’m still hooked. I can’t recommend
Rule’s Bride highly enough. -

Enthralling to the very end...
Boston gun
manufacturer Howard Griffin is dying. With only a
few months to live, he worries about what will
become of his company, Griffin Manufacturing, which
he had hoped would provide a secure future for his
young daughter, Violet. To ensure the well-being of
them both, he strikes a deal with one of his most
trusted employees, Englishman Rule Dewar. Under
Griffin’s arrangement, Rule and Violet will each
receive half of the company upon Howard’s death,
with Rule taking his place as head of the company.
In addition, Rule must agree to marry 16 year old
Violet immediately, but postpone consummation for a
few years, until she is ready to fulfill her role as
Rule’s wife. Despite the highly unconventional
arrangement, Rule agrees to the terms of the deal
and marries Violet before returning to his home in
England to open the European branch of the company.
Three years later,
back in the States, 19 year old Violet finds she’s
in love with another man, even though she is legally
married to Rule. She hasn’t heard from Rule in quite
some time and feels abandoned and jilted by him.
Because their marriage was never consummated, she
decides to travel to England to seek an annulment.
Rule is surprised when Violet turns up at his
doorstep, and the entire Dewar family is stunned to
learn that Rule has been secretly married for three
years. Violet is convinced an annulment is the best
solution but Rule would like to give married life a
try. He convinces her to stay in London for one
month, living as his wife, before making the
decision to end their relationship. He soon
discovers how spirited and head-strong his young
American wife really is.
Book #3 of Martin’s
Bride trilogy is every bit as engaging as the first
two. The enterprising Dewar family continues to
grow, and now ventures into the new world, with the
marriage of Rule and his American bride, Violet. The
plot takes a sinister turn when Griffin
Manufacturing goes up for sale at the dawn of the
Civil War, and greed and deception enter the
negotiations. And Violet’s American suitor won’t
give her up without a fight either. Enthralling to
the very end. -

A wonderful read...
This
is the third story in the trilogy and what a wonderful read it
was. So much so that I really have to read the first two, yes I
admit it, I haven’t read them but will do so, and soon. One of
the things I liked was that I didn’t have to read the first two
books to understand what was happening as this story is further
into time but we do get to meet the other characters again which
made me want to find out their background story. I really
enjoyed this story with the likeable characters and excellent
storyline. -www.eyeonromance.com
* sighs dreamily * This is how historical
romances are supposed to be made. This book was simply lovely.
This
is one of those story's where you're reading this and think
"Okay you two, stop being idiots, you love each other and you
very damn well know it so start acting like it before I punch
you in the nose." But I love, LOVE, these types of stories. This
was my first time reading any of Kat's work and I will
definitely go back to read the series from the beginning,
because if they are anything like this one it is well worth it.
I can see this as a book, trilogy, I will read more then once
too. Seriously I had a hard time not going back to page one and
starting over when I read the last words that confirmed the book
over. Had I not have a pile of review books demanding my
attention I would have. But really, it was a good book and I do
recomm-end you read this. Because it really truly was a good
read. :)
Jessica Rabbit's Blog spot
Kat Martin has ended this series on a high
note.
Three
years ago Rule married the daughter of his friend and business
partner, Griff, while in America, telling no one else in England
of this after he returned. For Griff was dying and wanted his
daughter protected as well as the business. He had only the
greatest of respect for Rule and trusted him. He asked Rule to
wait until Violet was a grown woman before consummating the
marriage. His daughter was then 16 and, altho showing signs of
beauty, still was a gangly youngster. He returns to England and
resumes living his life as he always has.
Now, tired of waiting to be a wife
and with a new love she wants to marry, Violet comes to England
to ask for an annulment. Violet also wants to sell the armament
company as she sees a civil war coming in America and doesn't
want to be the manufacturer of the guns that may kill the people
she loves. Rule convinces her to wait a month before anything
happens, giving him a chance to arrange a successful sale as
well as convince her to stay married. For, altho he was not
enthused with being married before, now that he has met the
grown up Violet, he thinks differently. Before anything is
settled, there is a murder, Rule's arrest, and the two become
intimate. Everything is all the more complicated with the
arrival of the man who loves her arriving from America.
One thing negative to say about
this story is how hard it was to swallow that Rule couldn't tell
that he loved his wife. The author asks us to swallow that and
it's hard to do. Other than that, Kat Martin has ended this
series on a high note. Two love stories, with murder and
mystery, move this book right along. There's no lack of
passionate love scenes between each couple. Whew! It's all quite
exciting and terrific. Really looking forward to a new series
featuring the magnificent Oarsmen!
